Cylinder Location – Liquid Off Take Valve Cylinders

View Categories

The area where Liquid Off Take valve multi cylinder installation is provided shall:

Be a segregated area with all round fencing and plain cement flooring/paver block in the open space inside the fenced area. The plain cement flooring/paver block shall be raised by minimum 100 mm from the natural ground.

Have mastic flooring inside the shed, raised by minimum 100 mm from plain cement flooring/paver block.

Note: The guideline mandates a minimum thickness of 100 mm for mastic flooring. However, it’s important to point out that IS 1195 – The Indian Standard for Laying of Bitumen Mastic Flooring for Industries handling LPG and other Light Hydrocarbon Products, reaffirmed in 2022, suggests a total thickness to which bitumen mastic should be laid shall be 20 mm to 25 mm or as mutually agreed upon by both parties depending on actual conditions. This specification might be suitably applied to the flooring of LPG cylinder bank sheds as well.

The cylinder installation area and the area where vaporizer is installed shall be a covered shed with sides open for ventilation.

A minimum distance of 1 meter shall be maintained between the cylinder installation and the surface water drain, if any.

Cylinders shall not be installed below ground level in cellars or basement or at a place where they are likely to cause obstruction, suffer damage or be exposed to conditions likely to affect safety.

Flame proof (FLP) light fitting approved by the Statutory Authority for lighting with armoured aluminium/copper PVC extruded cable with fire retardant properties conforming to relevant Indian Standards shall be provided.

Main shut-off valve (Plug or ball-type) on the pipeline emerging out of cylinder installation area shall be located in such a manner that it just falls outside the cylinder installation area and shall be easily accessible at all times. At the point of entry of each workplace, the line shall have a quick shut-off valve (plug or ball-type).
