Serial No.Capacity of LPG InstallationNumber of Sensors
01For LPG installations from 2000 kg and up to 4000 kgOne sensor at each corner of shed shall be provided. The sensors shall be provided within 3 metres from nearest cylinder of manifold
02For LPG installations beyond 4000 kg and up to 8000 kgIn addition to the above. two additional sensors shall be provided. The additional two sensors shall be located in middle of each of the longer sides of the shed
Electronic gas leak detectors duly approved by statutory authority along with control panel for giving audio/visual alarms shall be used for leak detection especially in commercial/industrial installations and in domestic/residential housing complexes, where combined capacity of all installations is exceeding 1000 kg or where reticulated system has been provided.

Note: it appears there is a discrepancy or inconsistency in the standard regarding the requirements for gas leak detection systems. With the intent to resolve this conflict and establish a recommendation, one could infer that systems exceeding 1000 kg should have at least some form of detection. Though the standard does not specify the number of sensors for this range (1000 kg to 2000 kg), then you might infer a minimum requirement of 2 sensors (since 4 sensors are needed for 2000 kg to 4000 kg, implying a higher density of sensors for larger systems).
